Launched Officially: 2023 Somaliland Economic Forum Report & 52 Development Projects Prioritized for 2024

Hargeisa(Hayaannews): The Government of Somaliland has launched the 2023 Somaliland Economic Forum Report! Dive into this comprehensive report to uncover key insights and upcoming projects set to shape 2024.

In the report, the economic institutions leading the Somaliland Economic Forum planned to avoid the conference turning into a talking shop. It was decided to convert the challenges into 52 actionable projects and policies, aligning each project with an NDPIII outcome and sector, and assigning each project to the concerned agency or government institutions. Dates for the start and finish of each project were also set.

As part of these economic institutions, the Ministry of Trade and Tourism has begun implementing its projects, which are among the 52 identified projects. One such initiative includes the full digitalization of the business registration and licensing processes, streamlining operations and significantly reducing processing times. Additionally, the Ministry is spearheading efforts such as the National Trade Policy, Frankincense Export Facilitation, and Small-Scale Trade Acceleration in Tog-Wajale through Cross-Border Collaboration. These projects underscore the Ministry’s commitment to driving economic growth and development in Somaliland. Moreover, the Ministry is actively working on projects such as the Commercial Code, Intellectual Property Bill, Trade Agreement with Ethiopia, and the Establishment of high-level Public Private Dialogue, all aimed at fostering a conducive business environment and enhancing trade relations within the region and beyond.
